Botswana's ambitious $300m digital proposal

Botswana's Ministry of Communications and Innovation is requesting more than $319.35 million (P473.2) for the financial year 2026/2017.

The funds are intended for the financial year 2026/2027 as part of the 12th National Development Plan.

The projected budget supports efforts such as developing the Orphan Radioactive Storage Facility, implementing border surveillance technologies, and promoting digital transformation.

Major initiatives include the Government Data Network Expansion III project, which costs $553,530.

The minister's budget plan also includes projects for Government Online Services (electronic services (e-Services)) and the National Backbone Network.
