Following a delayed launch, BlackBerry’s messenger service, BBM, is available for download to users of Android and Apple iPhone devices.

Last month, the Canadian handset maker announced that BBM would be available as a free download for Android smartphones running the Ice Cream Sandwich and Jelly Bean versions of the Google operating system.

Apple iPhone users’ devices running on iOS 6 and iOS 7 would also be able to download the service from the App Store.

However, subsequent to the announcement, the smartphone maker decided to temporarily suspend the launch of the application in September.

BlackBerry said it suspended the service after a leaked version of the Android version of the app was released.
