digital infrastructure leader Mazen Mroué, CEO of Bayobab, a subsidiary of the MTN Group, has been appointed to the board of the Global Leaders' Forum (GLF).

The GLF is a network of senior connectivity leaders working to shape the future of the digital infrastructure and telecommunications ecosystem.

The appointment reflects the growing role of African-led infrastructure players in global industry dialogue, says Bayobab. It went on to say this reinforces the company's commitment to advancing inclusive and responsible connectivity across the regions it serves.

Digital infrastructure is playing an increasingly central role in economic development, innovation and inclusion, says Mroué.

Through collaboration and strategic engagement, the GLF works to strengthen trusted critical infrastructure, improve interoperability and enable digital transformation worldwide.

As a newly appointed board member, Mroué will attend his first GLF board meeting during the International Telecoms Week 2026, taking place in Washington D.C. in May.

Mroué comments: “As Bayobab expands critical infrastructure across Africa, we see every day how resilient, open and future-fit networks can enable progress for businesses, communities and economies.

"I look forward to contributing a perspective grounded in Africa’s growth ambitions, while working with industry peers to strengthen cooperation, advance sustainable investment, and help shape a more inclusive and resilient digital ecosystem."

His distinctive perspective, strategic contribution and expertise will be of great stimulus to the forum, says Enrico Bagnasco, chair of the Board of the GLF.
