To close the digital divide, American Tower Corporation (ATC) Nigeria and the ProFuturo Foundation, a global initiative for educational innovation through technology, are providing internet access to over 5,600 students and 34 teachers.

The collaboration will facilitate the distribution of kits containing computers, tablets, routers, projectors, and other necessary components, thereby improving students' digital access and learning opportunities.

Initially focused on 11 schools in three states (Kano, Kebbi, and Tarabata), the alliance is projected to have a significant impact on learners and educators, even in locations with low connectivity.

The collaboration in the West African country is a key part of a global partnership between the organisations focused on reducing gaps in access, use and quality of educational resources in seven countries in Africa and Latin America, said ATC.

Magdalena Brier, general manager of ProFuturo Foundation, commended the project, saying: “The alliance between ProFuturo Foundation and American Tower is a big step to improve educational opportunities for the most vulnerable.”

Pieter Van Der Westhuizen, CEO of ATC Nigeria said the collaboration is about expanding access to technology and equipping the next generation with the skills they need to thrive in a digital world.
