Angolan telecoms and broadband services firm, Multitel, has selected global LTE solutions provider, Telrad Networks to help launch its 4G network in the country.

The southern African telco plans to deploy Telrad's future-ready 4G solutions to evolve its network from fixed WiMAX to TD-LTE for the enterprise and residential subscribers, according to a press statement.

Multitel has been offering broadband services (VPN and internet) on its 3.5 GHz WiMAX network to a primarily corporate customer base, including small and medium businesses, government agencies and universities since 2006.

Other Angolan telecom providers that have launched LTE include Unitel and Movicel.
