Alcatel ONETOUCH has partnered with Orange to widen access to mobile internet to users in markets including Africa with the release of the Orange Klif entry level smartphone.

According to a media release the new device offers connectivity speeds of up to 21 Mbps, is dual SIM, and includes a two-megapixel camera and micro-SD slot.

"The Orange Klif is the ultimate expression of our commitment to making mobile internet connectivity more accessible" said Dan Dery, Chief Marketing Officer for Alcatel ONETOUCH. "With its world-class connectivity speeds, affordability and rich features, it remains the quintessential entry-level smartphone, and we thank Firefox and Orange for supporting its introduction."

Powering the device's brisk connectivity are its dual core MediaTek CPU and 3G+ protocol plug-in. The addition of the highly optimised Firefox OS meanwhile allows for truly seamless web browsing experiences, creating a powerful internet-ready package.

Dr. Li Gong, President of Mozilla, said: "It's our pleasure to continue to work closely with Alcatel ONETOUCH on developing more Firefox OS devices that put the power of the Web in people's hands. We are happy to see Alcatel ONETOUCH team up with Orange and MediaTek to provide more options to the ecosystem because the expansion of this open ecosystem enables all manufacturers and operators to create more customized and unique user experiences."

"Orange is pleased to have Alcatel ONETOUCH as a partner in the delivery of the Orange Klif smartphone. Our collaboration demonstrates our shared commitment to provide mobile internet access to everyone across the AMEA region," said Yves Maitre, Executive Vice President of Connected Objects and Partnerships, Orange.
