Personal technology company Lenovo has unveiled Africa's "first" Android statue, Zuzu.
The PC maker said the Zuzu is a celebration of the launch of its Yoga Tablet and its most recent line of Android tablets on the continent.
The idea for the Zuzu statue was born after a social media competition whereby consumers could name the uniquely African Android statue. Lenovo received more than 5,300 entries across Africa, reveals a press statement.
Lenovo Africa general manager Graham Braum said, "We are thrilled to be the first to create an Android statue dedicated to the continent. The campaign received great interest from the public who were excited to name Africa’s first Android statue...”
Braum added, “This has been a great year for Lenovo Africa with record PC market shares in South Africa of 17.1% in Q3. Africa remains a very important growth region for Lenovo and we are committed to expanding our presence, continuously investing resources, technology and partners in the continent and achieving higher market shares.”
Today, Lenovo has also launched its Yoga Tablet to the South African market.
The tablet features three modes - hold, tilt and stand. Additionally, it has up to 18 hours of battery life.
