MTN Cameroon launches XAF100-m business support initiative
MTN Cameroon has launched a FCFA100-million business relief initiative to shared equally among 100 beneficiaries.
Called MTN Hope, the initiative is scheduled to run until 7 October 2020 and according to company officials, each week ten subscribers who achieve specific targets will be paid FCFA10-million.
In a statement released to the media, the company stated: “These objectives are either related to their usual communication operations or to their transactions on the MTN Mobile Money platform. Achieving either of the targets will make them eligible for the weekly draws that will take place live on MTN Cameroon’s Facebook page.”
Recipients will also be given access to business development experts to guide them on how best to utilise the funds.
Ebenezer Bodylawson, MTN Cameroon’s Acting CEO said: “The COVID-19 health crisis affects all levels of our society and has a strong impact on the most vulnerable. With the MTN Hope campaign, we are working together to bring more hope to the population by helping them face the socio-economic consequences of this pandemic. In the current circumstances, one million can change a life, and even lives.”
MTN Cameroon said subscribers will also have the opportunity to earn airtime bonuses throughout the campaign.
The operator said MTN Hope is part of an ongoing effort to respond to COVID-19.
The MTN Foundation has embarked on a 21-day national tour, during which it provided reusable face masks, disinfectant gels, fogging machines, medical equipment, amongst others, to some of the most affected communities.
In June 2020 Jean-Melvin Akam, Executive Secretary of MTN Foundation said MTN Cameroon’s contribution to the national response to COVID-19 had topped circa FCFA 2-billion.
