DCC appointed sole distributor for Symantec in SA, SADC

Drive Control Corporation (DCC) has been appointed the sole distributor for Symantec’s entire range of security solutions to the South Africa channel, as well as to the SADC region.

According to DCC it will distribute the complete range of solutions, “… from Symantec end point products, Symantec encryption, Web protection right through to the DLP, ITMS and other enterprise products available,” said Fred Mitchell, software solutions division head at DCC.

DCC and Symantec have established a long-standing partnership which has materialised into what the businesses say is “a successful SA channel model”.

Mitchell said, “Our appointment as sole distributor of Symantec in SA and our growth in the security space in SADC speak volumes of our partnership which has stood the test of time. We’ve fostered a noteworthy relationship over the years and look forward to this next, exciting phase in our business partnership.”

While DCC has not elaborated on details about its market strategy or objectives/ targets related to its distribution of Symantec, Mitchell said, “The aim for Symantec is to increase the Symantec market share in the region via focused resellers that we will assist in enhancing their Symantec knowledge and skills. Going to the end-users with focused resellers will definitely assist not just the end-users, but also the resellers and their capabilities. Resellers will also now be able to make use of their current relationship and credit levels with DCC to transact in what is one of the best security brands in the market.”

DCC has a strong footprint in the SADC region and the distributor is confident its appointment will see Symantec’s growth in the region go from strength-to-strength. 

The distributor has dedicated offices in most of the SADC countries and also an SADC-focused team based at its head office in Johannesburg.

Symantec, by Broadcom Software, is an established vendor and specialist provider of security solutions for the end-point, DLP, Web Protection (WPS), and encryption, among others.
