These are the new coins Yellow Card added to its app
Yellow Card, app-based crypto-currency exchange, has added five more coins to its platform.
This, the company says, it is the Yellow Card’s response to customers' demands for more coins to trade across Africa.
Yellow Card runs an app-based platform to buy and sell crypto currency online, and today it announced the addition of new coins, as it seeks to cement its position in the growing market.
Africa is one of the fastest-growing crypto markets in the world, according to Chainalysis, but remains the smallest, with crypto transactions peaking at $20 billion per month in 2021.
This growth has prompted global and African based crypto firms chase opportunities across the continent as they seek to push adoption of cryptocurrency transactions.
Binance, of the world’s top cryptocurrency infrastructure provider, last week added support for more African currencies including the Liberian Dollar, Sierra Leonean Leone, Gambian Dalasi, Mauritanian Ouguiya and Cape Verdean Escudo, as it seeks to expand its presence on the continent
Today, with the additional coins, Yellow Card says, it now provides a wider-range of cryptocurrencies, allowing customers to trade over seven digital assets including: Bitcoin, Tether, Ethereum, USD Coin, Cardano, Solana and Celo Dollar.
Yellow Card is one the fastest-growing cryptocurrency exchange on the continent, with a presence in 16 African countries.
Since launching in Nigeria in 2018, the US and Africa-based Yellow Card has said its objective is to make cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, Ethereum, and USDT Stablecoin accessible to anyone in Africa.
“Our customers wanted to trade a wider variety of digital assets on our platform as opposed to being limited by the few number coins we had available on the platform at the time. As a company, we are constantly taking deliberate steps to scale our business which means expanding our offering in various indices to drive adoption and usage,” says Ogochukwu Umeokafor, director of product management at Yellow Card.
Chris Maurice, CEO and co-founder of Yellow Card, comments: “The addition of the coins to our app is the first of many new features that Yellow Card will launch this year.”
