Malawi varsity launches e-campus learning
The Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR ) has partnered with Astria Learning to launch E-campus Learning.
This partnership between the university and a US-based edtech organisation will facilitate the delivery of 100% online undergraduate and post graduate programs through Astria Learning Platforms.
This campus will be a digital platform where students can access their learning materials, take part in interactive sessions and complete their courses entirely online. LUANAR currently has over 15 000 students.
Dr Jeff Bordes, CEO of Astria Learning, believes this initiative will prepare LUANAR students with the knowledge and skills to tackle emerging challenges in the digital age.
"Agriculture is the backbone of Africa's economy and our advanced e-learning platform will empower LUANAR students with the knowledge and skills needed to innovative and improve agricultural practices. By leveraging this technology, we aim to address and eventually eliminate food security issues in Malawi, ensuring that the nation can sustainably meet its food needs and improve the livelihoods of its people," he said.
Professor Emmanuel Kaunda, vice chancellor of LUANAR, said this initiative will provide accessible high-quality education and has the potential “to transform the educational landscape in Malawi and beyond
