E-tech solutions take focus at EduWeek
This week the 2015 SABC Education African EduWeek, which is now in its ninth year, took place at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Johannesburg, South Africa where e-learning was a particular focus.
According to event director, Tanya Jackman the focus on e-learning and the latest products and services for the education sector at this year’s event was one that was of importance to Intel, as one of the main sponsors of the event.
“SABC Education African EduWeek is one of the leading education conference and expos in the country, it makes business sense to be seen as a partner. For Intel, it also gives us the opportunity to continue working with our stakeholders, while showcasing the impact that we are making in schools across South Africa and Africa.” said Intel South Africa business development manager, Andre Christian.
Intel organised two workshops as part of the two day event. The first, focuses on inclusive education where global experts showcase implementation strategies, while the second workshop was one of Intel’s teaching programmes.
“If you look at some of the challenges that teachers face today; large workloads, constantly changing curriculums and the difficulty for them to adopt new technologies because of the time constraints, it makes sense to start with addressing these challenges- as this is where the real impact is made,” added Christian.
Among the exhibitors at African Eduweek 2015 is e-learning company The Training Room Online whose chief executive officer, Kirsty Chadwick spoke about the challenges in e-learning and added that there is no reason why learning can’t happen in what she describes as a fun and easy way to learn.
“EduWeek allows us access to educators and it also allows us to showcase the quality solutions which we design,” said Chadwick.
