Kenya deepens Huawei relations in tech adoption drive

Kenya plans to deepen its collaboration with Huawei in order to increase technology adoption in the country.

Dr. Tonny K. Omwansa, PhD, CEO of the Kenya National Innovation Agency, disclosed at a recent event in Nairobi that the government intends to use Huawei technology and infrastructure to boost Kenyans' skill sets.

This effort is part of Kenya's broader aim to boost the digital economy, with Huawei assisting in the development of policies and modern technologies, including artificial intelligence, for students.

Adam Lane, Huawei Kenya's director of government affairs, highlighted the company's efforts to promote local innovators, particularly those developing solutions for people with special needs. Students are receiving training to use Huawei Cloud to develop software that addresses a range of health issues.

This move comes as Huawei, a global provider of ICT infrastructure and smart devices, recently pledged to use its own digital transformation experience to help Africa develop.

Dawei LI, vice president of Huawei Sub-Saharan Africa, told ITWeb about the company’s plans for Africa at the recent Pan-African Data Centres Exhibition and Conference in Johannesburg,South Africa.

Li discussed about Huawei's position and solutions in Artificial Intelligence, Cloud computing, and Data centres, as well as the company's newest insights and goals in Africa
