This year Nigeria's government, via the country's Ministry of Communication Technology, plans to reach 50% of the population with 3G broadband.
A report published by Daily Independent explains that Africa's most populous country will utilise the 'Wireless Broadband Infrastructure Upgrade and Expansion Phase 1' component of the National Broadband Plan 2013 -2018 to achieve the goal.
The objective is to establish 3rd generation telecommunication network infrastructure to support 3G services.
The Ministry of Communication Technology will govern the compatibility of new cell sits in terms of LTE and manage the digital dividend spectrum migration and application, through the NCC, writes the Daily Independent.
Meanwhile ICT professionals in Nigeria have stressed the importance of effective implementation of the Plan if the country is to achieve its objective of a connected society marked by high-speed internet and broadband access.
