Multiple complaints over Morocco's telecom services' quality
In the first quarter of 2023, Morocco's National Telecommunications Regulatory Agency (ANRT) received and handled 362 complaints concerning the quality of telecom services.
According to a recent report by the regulatory body, out of 362 complaints filed between January and March 2023, 175 were about Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL) services, and 117 were over mobile voice services, including portability problems, billing challenges, and contractual complaints.
Additionally, the quality of fixed telephony, 3G-4G internet access, and fiber received criticism from telecom companies.
Etisalat Al-Maghrib (Maroc Telecom), Orange Maroc (Médi Telecom), and Inwi (Wana Corporate) are the three main telecom companies in Morocco.
The regulator observes that ADSL services accounted for the biggest percentage (48%) of complaints.
According to the regulator, the majority of complaints came from individuals with the remainder coming from businesses, institutions, professional bodies, and associations.
With a mobile penetration rate of 144.3% and an internet penetration rate of 97.18%, Morocco has 52.92 million mobile customers.
