MainOne’s datacentre subsidiary MDXi Appolonia has received its Tier III Constructed Facility certification (TCCF) from the Uptime Institute.

In a statement released to the media, MDXi Appolonia said the milestone confirms its status as “the leading datacentre provider in Ghana” with four industry certifications - including the Tier III Constructed Facility certification, TCCF; the PCI-DSS certification (which certifies the datacentre to process payment card information); ISO 27001 and ISO 9001 certifications which assures information security and quality management.

The MDXi Appolonia facility said the latest certification is a progression from the Tier Certification of Design Documents (TCCD) that was issued by uptime following the review of designs of the facility during construction.

Emmanuel Kwarteng, Country Manager, MainOne Ghana, said, “MDXi Appolonia datacentre receiving this certification just a year after launch provides assurance of the quality of the datacentre infrastructure and ability to manage disruptions even under unprecedented circumstances.”

The datacentre features private datacentre suites, enterprise-grade 24×7 multi-level security and video surveillance, precision cooling, safety and fire suppression systems.

MDXi Appolonia datacentre offers open access connectivity options to all telecommunication networks in Ghana and direct access to MainOne and other submarine cable systems.

It offers access to various Internet Exchanges including the GIX (Ghana), IXPN (Nigeria), LINX (London), DECIX (Frankfurt/Lisbon), and Cote d’Ivoire Internet Exchange (CIVIX), as well as the West Africa Internet Exchange (WAF-IX).

The Appolonia datacentre, located 20 kilometres from the centre of Accra, was launched in June 2021 and was built to cater to the increasing demand for colocation and interconnection services by multinationals and businesses seeking shared services for their ICT resources.

At the time of the launch, Gbenga Adegbiji, Chief Operating Officer, MDXi was quoted as saying: “(The) Appolonia datacentre is a state-of-the-art facility that is being built to the highest standards required for today’s digital infrastructure and consistent with the MainOne brand. With the assurance of high quality of service designed to meet business requirements for digital colocation and cloud infrastructure, the Appolonia (Accra) datacentre will provide a highly secured, resilient and scalable solution for our customers.”
