Egypt’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) is looking to explore avenues for collaboration in artificial intelligence (AI), computing, digital skills development, and support for innovation with NVIDIA.
This follows a meeting between ICT minister Raafat Hendy and NVIDIA vice president for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, Paolo Guglielmini, where the preparation of a memorandum of understanding outlining the proposed areas of cooperation was discussed.
NVIDIA highlighted that this collaboration aims to solidify Egypt’s position as a key regional AI hub, transforming the nation into a prime global destination for technology outsourcing, consulting services, and advanced AI infrastructure.
The meeting also explored opportunities for cooperation in research and development in AI and advanced technologies, local talent development, and support for entrepreneurs and start-ups.
The discussions also covered access to specialised technical and training content, as well as opportunities to leverage training programmes in AI, deep learning, and the training of trainers.
The two sides discussed ways to strengthen Egypt’s domestic computing and AI capabilities to better serve the needs of developers, researchers, and institutions, said the ministry.
Hendy highlighted key indicators of the nation’s ICT sector, which is a major driver of economic growth.
He underscored Egypt’s integrated approach to harnessing AI technologies to deliver tangible economic, developmental, and societal impact.
This approach includes initiatives aimed at improving government operations, upskilling the workforce, supporting development efforts, and developing AI applications that serve the public interest, while simultaneously fostering Egyptian talent and equipping it with advanced and specialised AI skills.
For his part, Guglielmini highlighted Egypt's talent and ambition to emerge as an influential force in AI innovation, noting that NVIDIA can help accelerate the realisation of this ambition through its integrated ecosystem of accelerated computing, software, and AI tools, alongside training programmes that empower developers to turn their ideas into practical applications.
He also underscored significant opportunities for NVIDIA to support the North African country’s AI ecosystem in developing solutions that address local needs and reach global markets.
“In addition, the discussion reviewed the MCIT’s efforts to advance the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem and build capacity through Creativa Innovation Hubs. This nationwide network provides a supportive environment for developing technological skills, nurturing innovators, and supporting entrepreneurs and start-ups,” MCIT said.
“The meeting also covered the key pillars and goals of the second edition of the National AI Strategy (2025–2030), progress made in implementing the strategy, and opportunities to support these efforts through skills development, fostering innovation, and expanding the use of AI applications.”
