Cameroon's national telecoms operator Camtel has entered the satellite services sector having signed an agreement with Belgian provider of VSAT services SatADSL.

The agreement positions Camtel as a distributor of satellite broadband internet that does not require physical infrastructure, enabling connectivity service delivery to underserved rural areas.

According to the agreement, Camtel will leverage SatADSL's Cloud-based Service Delivery Platform (C-SDP) platform to offer competitive packages to end-users.

SatADSL will fulfil all of Camtel's satellite connectivity requirements across all frequency ranges, including Ku-, Ka- and C-band.

The partnership facilitated several pilot projects by businesses within Cameroon's public and private sectors involving SatADSL's satellite connectivity solutions.

SatADSL plans to integrate and deploy its VSAT services across the central African country, enabling Camtel to offer competitive broadband packages.
