Africa's tech trailblazers heading East
Executives from Safaricom, Telkom Kenya, MTN Uganda, Airtel Africa, Mauritius Telecom and Google Kenya, among other multinational tech firms, are scheduled to present at East Africa Com running from 17 -18 May 2017 at the Radisson Blu, Nairobi Upper Hill, in Kenya.
The theme of this year's event is 'championing the transformational impact of digital communication on lives and businesses' and the agenda incorporates several keynote presentations – including Steve Chege from Safaricom and Christian de Faria from Airtel Africa.
Chege will discuss the socio-economic benefits of NBN and the key rollout strategies in Eastern Africa, while de Faria will cover how policymakers and regulators create an enabling environment for operators to improve connectivity to underserved segments of the population.
Other speakers on the agenda include Aldo Mareuse CEO of Telkom Kenya; Steve Kirenga, Product Business Manager at MTN Uganda; Claire Papponeau, Deputy CEO at Mauritius Telecom and Loic Amado, General Manager, East Africa at Uber.
The event will keep to its tried and trusted format which includes keynote presentations, various streams and networking sessions.
Several streams are organised to facilitate discussion around important topics including Creating East Africa's connected society; and New Broadcasting models for the digital era.
The event will also lead in-depth discussion into practical IoT application, the central role of the MNO, roaming IoT – without bill shock, expanding the LTE user experience beyond voice and data, building the foundations of successful SDN and NFV deployments
East Africa Com also features an exhibition through which companies will engage with their market directly using one-to-one interviews, speed networking sessions and facilitated meetings.
