Competition Commission approves Altron's acquisition of iS Partners

JSE-listed Allied Electronics Corporation Limited (Altron) announced that the Competition Commission has approved its acquisition of iS Partners with effect from 1 September 2018.

iS Partners comprises of Karabina Solutions, a Microsoft focused business, and Zetta Business Solutions, which provides Amazon Web Services offerings.

In a statement issued by Altron, Group Chief Executive Mteto Nyati said, "The approval clears the way for Altron to offer customers choice in leading cloud computing and data analytics platforms. Within Altron, Karabina will be a separate division focused on Microsoft and Zetta Business Solutions will be integrated into Altron Bytes Systems Integration (BSI)."

Altron BSI, a merged business unit of two previously separate operations within Altron, is a driver of Altron's strategy in key areas of growth including IOT, data analytics, cloud services and security.

In August 2018 Altron unveiled a new brand looking to bring the company under a single entity as part of measures to streamline and simplify the company's corporate and executive structures initiated by Nyati.

The company implemented a turnaround strategy which has so far paid off, with Altron selling some of its non-core business assets as well as making some acquisitions.

Altron's subsidiaries include Bytes Technology Group, Altech Netstar, and CBI Telecom among others.

"Our new brand brings with it a new culture of how we do business," said Nyati. "Part of this is our renewed commitment to being a partner to our customers throughout their digital transformation journeys, and we want our customers to experience us as trusted advisors," he added.

According to information supplied by the company, Karabina employs 200 employees and has an established customer base of over 300 companies from South Africa and the rest of Africa.
