Liquid Dataport is expanding its fibre network with plans in motion to connect Angola and Zambia directly.

The move comes after Liquid Dataport's launch of a new fibre link between Lobito, Angola and Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

As part of the Liquid Intelligent Technologies group, Liquid Dataport already has a 110,000 km fibre backbone, providing its regional customers access to high-speed connectivity and cloud services.

Announcing the new route yesterday, it said the 2,500 km fibre route brings additional and affordable Internet services, positively impacting the lives of millions of people along the way.

With the route, the company said it is expanding its fibre backbone to connect Luanda, Angola, via Chavuma, in north-west Zambia to the capital city Lusaka.

The company intends to directly connect Angola to Zambia through its fibre network in Zambia and collaborate with partners including Angola Telecom.

Liquid Dataport's investment in this new direct route aligns with its vision of a One Africa Digital Network that links all African countries.
