Tunisia Telecom partners to digitise agriculture

Tunisie Telecom has announced a new agreement with the Tunisian Union of Agriculture and Fisheries (UTAP) and its affiliates for exclusive telecommunications services.

The telco says these include tailored offers for mobile, 4G, fixed, VoIP as well as internet on fibre optic and messaging until 2020.

Nizar Bouguila, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Tunisie Telecom said the partnership is important as UTAP is a key player in the country's economy.

"Tunisie Telecom will put all its know-how in ICT to achieve and to support digital agriculture in Tunisia and to improve the competitiveness and profitability of this essential sector of development."

Abdelmajid Ezzar, the President of the Tunisian Union of Agriculture and Fisheries, signed the partnership on behalf of UTAP. He emphasised that the agreement reached with Tunisie Telecom will allow UTAP to make its members benefit from the best telecommunications solutions in the country.

"We are grateful to Tunisie Telecom for its professionalism and support while wishing to further strengthen this partnership and this valuable collaboration for the benefit of our country"

The signing ceremony took place at the headquarters of Tunisie Telecom and it comes only weeks after The World Bank announced a US$150 million financial boost to the ICT programme for Uganda's agriculture sector through the Export-Import Bank of Korea.
