Huawei launches digital literacy skills initiative in Kenya
Huawei has launched the DigiTruck digital literacy skills initiative in Kenya.
The project by the Chinese-headquartered global technology company was announced during the recently finished Connected Africa Summit in the East African country.
The launch was presided over by Eliud Owalo, Cabinet Secretary for Information and Communications Technology and the Digital Economy, and Huawei Kenya's Deputy CEO, Steven Zhang.
"Together with our partners, we are committed to innovating technologies and solutions that make the world a more inclusive and sustainable space for all," Zhang told the delegates at the event.
Owalo praised the effort and expressed hope that it will reach youth in Kenya's remote communities.
Huawei's DigiTruck is a modified shipping container that has been transformed into a mobile digital classroom.
Inside the 12-metre-long compartment, a digital realm has been created with smart gadgets such as laptops, screens, virtual reality (VR) headsets, cellphones, and routers.
The Huawei ICT Talent Development project includes the Huawei DigiTruck, the Huawei ICT Academy, and the Huawei ICT Competitions.
