Frédéric Debord appointed new DG for Orange Cameroon
At an administration council meeting held by Orange Cameroon in Douala last night, Frédéric Debord was appointed as the new Director General with effect from 15 February.
Debord replaces Elisabeth Medou Badang who has been appointed to the Board of Directors of Orange MEA as Zone Director and official spokesperson.
Bruno Mettling, CEO for Orange Middle East and Africa confirmed the development.
Badang was appointed as head of Orange Cameroon in December 2013 from Orange Botswana where she held similar position.
She is credited with the rapid growth of Orange Cameroon's mobile money launched in 2011, and for the company achieving 37% market share, placing it second after MTN.
During her tenure the company also experienced a continued subscriber demand for improved service quality and government-directed service disruptions.
Badang said, "I am proud of what we accomplished together, it is full of emotions that I prepare for this transition. Thank you for your mobilisation and your efficiency in difficult times, as in ordinary times."
Debord has 20 years' experience in telecommunications, occupying similar positions in Eastern Europe, Caribbean and North Africa.
He was the Deputy CEO and Chief Financial Officer for Orange Slovensko between 2001 and 2004, and served as CEO of Orange Dominica between 2004 and 2009. Between 2009 and 2015 he served as CEO of Wana Corporate/inwi, and as COO of Ooredoo Kuwait between 2016 and 2017.
