Value of software innovation to a digital economy

Johannesburg, South Africa will serve as the host venue of the 2nd Africa and Middle East Conference on Software Engineering (AMECSE) Conference running from 31 August to 01 September 2015.

This is an academic conference that will run at the Parktonian Hotel in Braamfontein alongside the 3rd Africa ICT Alliance (AfICTA Summit), with the framework of the Fak'ugesi Digital Africa Festival.

Organisers describe the Festival as one "aimed at activating a dynamic phase of digital innovation in Johannesburg through the engagement of art and technology in an African context."

The inaugural Fak'ugesi was hosted by Wits University and took place in Braamfontein in September 2014. The event features stand-alone conferences, exhibitions, short-courses and workshops focused on Africa and the emergence of a digital culture.

It will also feature in-depth discussion about best practices and technology, and how these can be leveraged for sustainable results and momentum for research.

Organisers have already extended an invitation to the market to contribute and share work in one or more of the Conference tracks including, Industrial Papers/Technical Research; Formal Demonstrations; Posters and Tutorials.
