Pamoja, the cloud service of Pan-African ICT firm SEACOM, experienced positive quarterly growth of 75% in the East African region, say company officials.

Albie Bester, general manager for Pamoja Cloud Services in Kenya, has told ITWeb Africa that over the past six months SEACOM has witnessed strong growth of its cloud services offering.

The Pamoja Cloud Services is SEACOM’s premier cloud offering in the marketplace for African businesses and offers wholesale cloud computing services via ICT companies and other service providers.

According to Bester, SEACOM’s customers are small to medium sized organisations in the services industry.

Pamoja's Cloud Services regional channel manager Claire Kaguarat reiterated that this makes the service ‘unique’.

“Pamoja represents Africa as a single service partner, enabling economies of scale to both content owners and the small and medium enterprise markets in Africa. This is possible because Pamoja leverages on SEACOM’s existing network, ensuring that the SME market in Africa is served with cost effective cloud services that eliminate CAPEX costs,” said Bester.

Pamoja also revealed plans to invest in cloud computing infrastructure in South Africa and Kenya.

The facilities are expected to improve access to the cloud services and address the issues surrounding the location of confidential and sensitive data and service latency.
