SmartEngage technology launched in Kenya
Communications and collaborations enabler for companies, customers and team management, Avaya, has announced plans to extensively expand its presence in Africa.
The company has partnered with the Kenyan government and the private sector to roll out SmartEngage technology in the East African nation.
According to a statement kiosk-like terminals will be deployed to enable companies and governments to remotely dispatch services such as renewal of licences.
“SmartEngage solutions is a product that we are taking worldwide,” said Hatim Hariri, managing director for North, West, East and Central Africa.
Hariri likened the solution to an ATM machine, fitted with video conferencing capabilities.
When renewing a driving licence, for example, an applicant can simply engage customer care virtually, apply for the licence, pay the required fee and immediately receive a printout.
The company said that the self-service kiosks are one scenario of how mobile engagement environments can be created and tailored to solve specific business challenges. This solution can also be deployed in various industries such as healthcare, education and banking.
“Mobile engagement environments are set to accelerate the build-up of a connected Kenya, where businesses, governments and citizens engage in a seamless, mobile and video-enabled, multi-channel world, where services are available anytime, anywhere and on any device,” Avaya said.
Hariri was speaking to journalists in Nairobi as the company ended its Avaya Engage Tour that brought more than 150 government and private sector partners together.
