Huawei is now accepting applications for Kenya's Seeds for the Future Programme 2024.

The programme aims to develop local ICT talent, improve knowledge sharing, and raise awareness and enthusiasm in the technology sector.

Applications opened last week and Huawei will complete the process on April 30th.

The programme is part of Huawei's global corporate social responsibility flagship efforts, and over the last nine years, more than 240 Kenyan students have received virtual training, with 47 of them travelling to China for additional two-week training on Chinese culture and the latest technological innovations at the Huawei headquarters.

Last year, 50 outstanding students completed the virtual programme, meeting with experts from across the world covering topics such as technology, leadership, and business.

For the 2024 edition, the Seeds for the Future programme will return to its physical form, with Huawei exposing participants to 5G technologies, cloud computing, and AI.

Furthermore, the organisation stated that participants will meet with global IT experts and will receive a programme graduation certificate upon completion.

To qualify, Huawei is looking for talented university students with a GPA of 3.0+ (B or higher) or a top 30% faculty ranking, an interest in ICT, and a passion for telecoms and technology developments, among other things.

According to the company, this is a non-salaried programme, and participation does not guarantee future employment with Huawei after graduation.

Huawei and Kenya’s Information and Communications Technology Authority are jointly working together on the programme.

Top ten excelling students in the Seeds for the Future will get an opportunity to visit Huawei Africa’s regional headquarters in South Africa for mentorship.
