Long live the distributor

Secure Lab is intent on redefining the business model of a conventional IT distributor and is modelling a new approach called service-focused distribution.

"Everyone is offering products and trying to offer service to resellers, but their business operations are more geared around product distribution than one-on-one relationships," says Secure Lab CEO, Lee Milroy. "We are intent at showing the industry that resellers are not product-dependent and will deal with distributors that, in the end, offer them the best value for money."

Secure Lab is making reseller services the key differentiator of its distributor model. Secure Lab is also ambitious about its expansion plans in Southern Africa, with most of its new reseller growth appearing in Southern African countries.

Key Account Manager, Leo Meyer commented on the African expansion: "What we're seeing in Southern Africa is that resellers are hungry for new products and ideas. While the business environment might not be as stable as South Africa, there is a high degree of innovation in other Southern African markets. And they're hungry for business."

The challenge is maintaining planned support levels into Southern African countries where the technical infrastructure is not as developed.

"We believe that as long as a reseller has an Internet connection or a phone, they have as much infrastructure as they need to experience our service platform. We're geared to support resellers on whatever communication platform they have a preference for," Lee Milroy continued, hinting at Secure Lab's future plans for a complete reseller virtual office.

"Whatever next steps Secure Lab takes, it will always be focused on the reseller. Without them, we have no business."
