Chase Bank, Motorola partner to sponsor tech startups

Kenyan Chase Bank and Motorola solution foundation have joined hands to support the upcoming Pivot East 2014 competition.

The Pivot East competition is East Africa's mobile startups pitching competition.

Ken Mwenda managing director of Emobilis a training institute and one of the consortium partners at m:Lab East Africa said that Pivot East is one of the best places where investors from around the globe can come and see the best startups in the region.

This year, the competition will encompass eight regional hubs across the region.

Chase Bank, has entered into an area where other banks in Kenya have shied away from. Magdalene Mulandi who is the marketing and communication head at the bank said, "We have been partners with the SMEs that are in the technology space. Most banks shy away from investing in tech sme’s."

Chase bank will be a gold sponsor for the event with a cheque of $45,000. While Motorola will be a silver sponsor at the event at an undisclosed amount.

“Motorola solutions is a company committed to advancing innovation and has a history of technological innovation and partnering with the cities and states where we live and work, we are thrilled to take part and support project such as Pivot East 2014,” said James Kamweti the Motorola Solutions East Africa account manager.
