For Vodacom, the move comes just a few weeks after Shameel Joosub, CEO of Vodacom Group, met with Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan during his market tour.

Vodacom, Airtel, and Tigo in Tanzania are investing $13 million (32.5 billion TZS) in additional infrastructure development to strengthen connectivity and economic growth.

The telecom companies met earlier this week to discuss the details of the breakthrough collaboration by the Tanzanian telecom heavyweights.

“We formalised this agreement with the Ministry of Information, Communications, and Information Technology," Vodacom Tanzania stated on its LinkedIn profile. “It is a watershed moment in terms of expanding communication services to citizens and creating economic growth."

" As part of this initiative, Vodacom Tanzania joins the Consortium of Telco Operators, solidifying the collaboration between the private sector and the government,”it added. “This agreement enables us to pass over around 3,000 km of communication infrastructure to the government, improving connectivity across the country."
