Telkom announces CFO replacement for Schindehütte

Telecommunications provider, Telkom, has appointed Deon Fredericks as the company's permanent chief financial officer (CFO) following the departure of Jacques Schindehütte.

A senior employee at Telkom since 1993, Fredericks has been acting CFO at Telkom since October last year.

A press statement reveals that Fredericks is a chartered accountant with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Business Management with honours.

He has held various directorships including Vodacom, Trudon and the Telkom Retirement Fund, the statement reads.

He is also a member of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants and the Chartered Institute of Management of Accountants in the United Kingdom.

Fredericks takes over former CFO, Jacques Schindehütte.

Last year the parastatal announced that it had suspended Schindehütte following allegations of personal misconduct levelled against him.

Up until his resignation last month, Schindehütte had been suspended from his role as CFO pending a disciplinary hearing.

In a statement Telkom stated, "Shareholders are advised that Mr Schindehütte will retire from the board with immediate effect."

Schindehütte will retire with full benefits and that the disciplinary proceedings against him will be discontinued, the statement added.
