Morocco reaches 8 million internet subscribers

“Morocco has nearly 8 million internet subscribers.”

This is according to Moroccan telecom regulator Agence Nationale de Réglementation des Télécommunications (ANRT) in a report on the country’s telecoms market for the second quarter of 2014.

Morocco has a population of just over 32 million, according to the World Bank.

Other statistics from ANRT indicate how lower prices of telecom services are boosting internet access.

The research indicates that the average monthly bill for internet customers in Morocco fell 38% from MAD42 last year to MAD26 in the second quarter of 2014.

Meanwhile, ANRT further says that 3G and ADSL internet prices “recorded drops of 41% and 18% respectively.”

the average bill is MAD16 for 3G internet and MAD91 for ADSL as of end of June 2014, says ANRT in its report.
