Electronics customer care bus hits Zambia's streets
South Korea’s LG Electronics has put a customer care bus on the roads of Zambia, as competition with Samsung heats up in that country.
The ‘LG Care and Delight Bus’ mobile service centre offers doorstep repair service of all the company’s products including handsets, laptops, air conditioners and televisions sets across Zambia to its customers.
The initiative comes on the heels of stiff competition in the marketing of electronic products between LG and Samsung Electronics, another South Korean company.
Although other electronics companies including Phillips are also fighting for a share of the Zambian market, the battle is mainly between the two South Korean companies.
The LG Care and Bus initiative has been launched in Zambia as a joint initiative with Radian Stores Ltd, a Zambian distributor of all LG products. The initial investment in the initiative is $300, 000.
Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry director in-charge of industry Tobias Mulimbika said the government was optimistic that the LG Care and Delight Bus concept would improve service delivery to customers.
“It is government conviction that the bus concept would provide a platform to educate customers about the efficient usage of sensitive electronic equipment, repair and maintenance so that they could enjoy LG products for a long time,” Mulimbika said.
Mulimbika said over the years, consumers of LG products in Zambia especially those living outside the capital Lusaka have had challenges to have their LG appliances repaired and usually had to wait for a long time before their appliances were repaired.
Radian Stores sales and marketing director Abhilash Bajpai said both LG and Radian Stores had from the beginning been committed towards high quality and the best of after sale service support.
“The care and delight bus is a mobile service centre, which is intended to cover all major towns in Zambia each month, offering door step service to all LG customers nationwide,” Bajpai said.
He said the bus was equipped with service work stations, equipment, spare parts storage facilities and customer lounge with entertainment. Mulimbika added that the bus has a canopies used for organising service camps in remote areas and ha
