Workonline, NTT Communications in connectivity partnership for Africa

South African connectivity service provider Workonline has announced a partnership with NTT Communications Corporation, the data and IP services arm of NTT, to roll out enhanced IP network connectivity services across Africa.

In a statement the companies have declared that they will provide seamless connectivity to customers in areas that have, until now, not been reached.

Workonline confirmed that the connectivity services are either transit services or MEF style connectivity services, and the cost for adoption will differ depending on the availability of infrastructure in areas under consideration.

For NTT Communications the partnership enables the company to leverage Workonline to access fresh network opportunities – specifically targeting metro areas in Sub-Saharan Africa.

"We are excited to partner with Workonline Communications and help it expand its high quality IP service portfolio available to its existing and potential customers," said Clive Hamilton, vice president of Network Services at NTT Europe. "This partnership also fits our strategy to take NTT Com's Global IP Network into some of the fastest-growing Internet markets in Africa and offer our customers more connectivity options in the region."

"Our goal is to provide our partners such as NTT Com with innovative and cost-effective solutions on a global scale, whilst maintaining the highest standards of design, build and deployment," said Edward Lawrence, Director of Business Development, Workonline Communications. "By collaborating with NTT Com, we will be able to improve our ability to provide our partners in the Africa region with further connectivity into key global markets."
