Camtel pushes for women inclusion in the digital economy
Camtel, the state-run telecom company, has committed to advocating for women's inclusion in the telecoms sector and increasing involvement in Cameroon's digital economy.
While commemorating Camtel Women's Day this week in the capital, Yaounde, Judith Yah Sunday Achidi, general manager of Camtel, said Cameroon is still afflicted by persisting gender disparities that disadvantage women and girls and hinder them from benefiting from the opportunities provided by technology.
Given the importance of developing a gender-sensitive approach to digital development, particularly in terms of digital innovation, technology, and education, the telecom signed several agreements with female techpreneurs, women-led businesses, and organisations.
Aside from providing access to its range of services, Camtel will provide financial assistance to the recipients to support activities such as exposing girls to coding and digitising business processes.
