MTN Uganda pays hefty dividends

In the financial year 2024, MTN Uganda reported a record-breaking net profit of $175 million (UGX 641.5 billion), rewarding shareholders with a hefty dividends.

The telecom company commended the hard work of its staff, the steadfast support of its stakeholders, and the confidence of its consumers in the business for its outstanding 2024 scorecard.

The accomplishment, according to MTN Uganda CEO Sylvia Mulinge's LinkedIn post, is evidence of the company's continued dedication to its customers and community.

“It was a great year for MTN Uganda, as we delivered a record-breaking UGX 641.5 billion net profit in 2024. This is not just a number; it’s a reflection of the trust our customers have placed in us, the hard work and dedication of our amazing team, and the support of our stakeholders,” she said

She went on to say: “Our success allows us to give back $139 million (UGX506bn) in dividends to our shareholders while staying true to our purpose—connecting Ugandans to the benefits of a modern, connected world.”

In addition to financial success, MTN Uganda's expansion into the fintech space has been a major contributor to its growth.

The company now has 13.8 million fintech users and has also seen significant growth in its data subscriber base, which has grown by 22.4%, reaching 10.1 million.

Reflecting on the company’s collective success, Mulinge said: “I couldn’t be prouder for what we have achieved jointly. To our team, customers, and partners— I thank you for your support - this is our win.”
