HP redefines printing business with new AI-driven features
HP aims to redefine printing solutions for its customers, implementing a new approach to simplify the print experience, improve security and boost workflow integration using artificial intelligence (AI) technology.
Anneliese Olson, president of HP’s imaging, printing and solutions division, shared the company's new approach last week at the annual Amplify Conference in Nashville, Tennessee.
According to HP, Olson is overseeing the transformation of the company's printing business to improve the printing experience and “empower customers to strive in the future of work”.
Olson explained to the participants that by combining the company's 86-year history of innovation − and its data − with the possibilities that AI delivers, HP can determine the future of printing.
“A world where printing is just intuitive. It’s personal, it’s effortless. It anticipates your needs before you even press that button, or that digit, and you’ll hear me say this more than once today: this is not about a better printer. This is about driving better outcomes.”
Olson stated the firm is focusing on three areas: making printing easier by leveraging AI to create new experiences, managing print device fleets safely and efficiently, and expanding subscription services to add convenience.
During the conference, Olson discussed HP's focus on building efficient workflows and enabling IT solutions, with simplifying print emerging as a top customer requirement.
She noted that HP is using AI to improve document handling, with features such as increased scan-to-email capabilities and automatic redaction of sensitive material, linking physical and digital workflows for seamless collaboration.
Olson also highlighted new security features for HP products, such as the addition of quantum attack protection to business printers, to meet future compliance requirements.
“We want to continue with innovation to make sure we can fight these emerging threats, as we have done in the last decade as the most secure printing company. We are now adding those security enhancements to printers to protect against quantum attacks.”
Furthermore, Olson believes the introduction of innovative technologies − such as the HP Latex R530 and AI-driven Production Hub − will transform user experiences across a variety of industries.
She encouraged partners to consider incorporating print technology into future strategies, emphasising the product portfolio's transition towards services and subscriptions.
“We are accelerating subscriptions and services to provide convenience, value and more seamless printing, to make it easier every time.”
Olsson added: “Simplifying print is the number one request that we get from customers.
“So, whether it’s choosing the cost of offering, setting up and maintaining them [printers], or addressing connectivity, we are making its simpler now. Taking all that history and innovation and data, we have a chance to go further and redefine this.”
