Telkom announces new Smartphone plan

South African telecommunications services company Telkom has announced new smartphone plans which the telco claims offers triple the value of any of its existing plans available to customers.

The new plans are available to subscribers from today and can be bundled with a wide range of handsets.

In a statement Attila Vitai, Telkom's managing director: consumer and mobile services, said the new plans "give Telkom customers more choice as well as three times the value."

As an example Telkom says the Smartphone Basic package allows customers to pay R50 and receive 150Mb of data, 150 SMSs, and 150 total voice minutes.

"This is made up of 50 minutes for Telkom mobile calls, another 50 minutes for Telkom fixed-line calls, and the remaining 50 minutes for use on other networks," the company stated.

According to Telkom , customers can top up the service they use most often. "An individual who makes calls to Telkom fixed-line numbers more often than other types of voice calls can top up just with the minutes of the same calling type rather than going out-of-bundle."

This latest announcement follows two additional product related updates from the company, including the launch of mobile voice bundles and a review of pricing on fixed DSL and FTTH data bundles.
