Seacom picks carrier wholesales provider of the year award
Seacom, an Africa-focused telecoms and managed services provider, was recently named the carrier wholesales provider of the year at the 9th annual African Digital Economy Awards in Kenya.
The African Digital Economy Awards recognises organisations in both the public and private sectors that use digital innovation to improve people's lives and have helped to create, grow, and strengthen a continent-wide economy.
For Seacom, it said the recognition comes soon after the company's ability to providing stable connectivity services was tested.
Earlier this year, damage to multiple subsea cable systems disrupted Internet services in Africa, and Seacom said that thanks to a combination of redundancy setups, provisional capacity, and rapid response, it was able to continue providing service to its customers by restoring it in just 48 hours, a process that would normally take weeks.
“The multiple cable breaks not only were a test of our ability to respond to network disruptions, but have also strengthened our reputation in the eyes of our valued customers and partners. Trust and loyalty are essential when it comes to the infrastructure and platforms that power Africa’s digital transformation and enable businesses to leverage cloud computing, network management, cybersecurity, and other technologies and solutions,” Sajid Kahn, managing director of Seacom Group Digital Services.
He added: “In a year that Africa’s network infrastructure has faced significant challenges and consumers and businesses have been adversely affected by network disruptions, Seacom has not wavered in its dedication to its partners and customers to keep them connected and empowered. We are very proud to have been awarded this prestigious honour which exemplifies our goal to lead by example in the provision of wholesale broadband connectivity.”
In addition to SEACOM being awarded carrier wholesales provider of the year, Kahn received the outstanding contribution to the ICT Industry award.
