African hotel website Jovago expands to Zanzibar, Djibouti, Malawi

Online African hotel booking website Jovago.com has expanded to Zanzibar, Djibouti and MalawI.

Jovago, which is owned by African Internet Holding (AIH), has expanded to the three countries after setting up shop in South Sudan last month.

The hotel booking website, which claims to have over 4,000 listings, also has its headquarters in Nigerian city Lagos, Kenyan capital Nairobi and the Ivory Coast.

“We are delighted to be able to bring our customers access to even more beautiful and attractive locations from across Africa,” said Estelle Verdier, managing director of Jovago East Africa, in a press statement.

“These new markets all boast tourist industries with great potential and we intend to support local hotels by giving them visibility on our site to an ever-growing customer base,” Verdier added.

Meanwhile, Jovago says it has started working with hotel Sheraton Djibouti to kickstart its next phase of African expansion.

“We are very happy to be working with Jovago; it is a superb initiative that will open the doors of Djibouti to the rest of the world. We are proud that the Sheraton is leading the way in bringing the hotel industry in Djibouti online,” said Sagal Mohamed, commercial director of the Sheraton Djibouti hotel, in a statement.
