Over 50,000 watch Mandela memorial YouTube live streaming

Two major South African television news networks have together reached over 50,000 people who have viewed the broadcasters’ online YouTube streams of Nelson Mandela’s memorial service in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Just past 12.30pm South African time, the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) had over 36,000 viewers on its live internet broadcast of the events, while eNews Channel Africa (eNCA) had notched up over 14,000 viewers, according to YouTube statistics.

One of the world's biggest memorial services ever has started on Tuesday at the FNB football stadium in Johannesburg, South Africa, which hosted the FIFA 2010 World Cup final.

World leaders attending the day’s events include UK President David Cameron, US President Barack Obama and Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta

Nelson Mandela, who was South Africa’s first democratically elected president in 1994, passed away at the age of 95 on Thursday.
