Telkom appoints Enzo Scarcella as CMO
South African fixed line provider, Telkom, has appointed Enzo Scarcella as the company’s new chief marketing officer.
Scarcella, a former managing executive at Vodacom, is expected to join the Telkom team at the end of January 2014.
Telkom group chief executive officer Sipho Maseko said, “This appointment gives further impetus to our effort of renewing the top leadership team. In the near future we will have a capable and dedicated team in place to plan and guide Telkom’s transformation.”
“The priorities we have set ourselves require us to attain the highest level of proficiency in actions such as investing in and repositioning the brand, shaping the company’s public profile, understanding customer needs and responding to changing customer behaviours,” he explained.
Scarcella spent five years in the US where he completed his education, and graduated with a BA Hons from Harvard University. He also has a diploma in marketing from the Kellogg School of Business in Chicago.
He has 18 years worth of experience and has held management positions at some of the country’s biggest brands, including Castle Lager, M-Net and Edgars.
Speaking about his appointment Scarcella said, “I have watched with keen interest the changes at Telkom over the past few months and I look forward to now being a part of the company’s transformation journey. The Telkom brand holds great promise and I am committed to bringing out the best that it has to offer.”
Maseko concluded, “The experience and skills Enzo brings to Telkom will not only boost our marketing capability, but will enhance our capacity to continuously develop our prowess in this critical area of the business.”
