An interesting year to be sure - 2013 had its ups, its downs and plenty of ‘inbetweens’. With increasingly more competition for the same business in our South African recession, the telecommunications industry was unfortunately not spared with suppliers needing to sacrifice more and more margin to stay in the game. A healthy company needs to balance profit with turnover as the two go hand in hand and with our versatile and solid business approach, Phonatics have managed a good year in spite of the many challenges and economic climate.

Surprisingly, one of the slow starters this year product-wise was Video Conferencing. Given the fast-paced, high-tech, time-sensitive business world we live in today, the snails pace at which VC adoption is progressing is very unexpected. Another market dragging its feet is the headset segment, with larger call centres down-sizing to streamline operations, demand is considerably reduced from previous periods.

On the upside, smaller call centres are sprouting up like mushrooms and the action here is humming. Totally abuzz with good service and offering a great client experience, this market is after quality and affordability, a space in which our Freemate range feels right at home. A perfect fit on all touch points from price to a great user experience, Freemate holds its own within the headset market going toe-to-toe with the more well-known brands and carving its own stronghold based on reliability and its value for money reputation.
