The distribution of e-vehicles and CNG vehicles is part of the Presidential Initiative.

Nigeria intends to distribute approximately 100 electric vehicles in the first phase of a scheme established to coincide with the country's 64th independence celebrations.

The project launched late on Sunday with the handover of 64 compressed natural gas (CNG) buses to delegates from the Trade Union Congress, the Nigerian Labour Congress, and the National Association of Nigerian Students.

The first phase of the $175 million project, which was unveiled in Abuja, would result in the nationwide deployment of 500 CNG buses and 100 e-vehicles.

Wale Edun, coordinating minister of the economy and minister of finance, revealed details at the State House conference centre.

He stated that the buses would significantly reduce transportation expenses in Africa's most populous country, raising hopes for a more economical and efficient transport system.

Michael Oluwagbemi, CEO of the initiative, stated that approximately 125 centers to convert vehicles from standard fuel consumption to the intended, modern versions had been constructed during the past year, since the program was initiated by the government.
