The Rockefeller Foundation has partnered with online jobs market Elance-oDesk to help disadvantaged Africans get online jobs and earn an income.

Elance-oDesk consists of a merger between freelance listings websites Elance.com and oDesk.com.

The jobs on offer from Elance-oDesk vary from web design, writing jobs, programming, office management and project management among others.

Meanwhile, the Rockefeller Foundation aims to achieve equitable growth by expanding opportunity for more people in more places worldwide

Rockefeller has also invested $100 million towards digital jobs in Africa.

“Africa's youths deserve equal access to these jobs and we're confident that this partnership will help open doors for them,” said Rich Pearson, senior vice president of geographies and categories at Elance-oDesk.

Mamadou Biteye, managing director of the Rockefeller Foundation's Africa regional office said,

“We will work together to ensure that young people on the continent are aware of the opportunity presented by online work and develop the skills to successfully access online jobs for income generation, skills development and increased digital work experience.”
