Telkom ready with iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus

South African telecommunications services provider Telkom has confirmed it is ready to offer the newly released iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, powered by iOS 10.

The company describes the latest Apple devices as "the best, most advanced iPhone ever", and singled out an all-new advanced camera system, dust and water resistant design, stereo speaker system and the A10 Fusion chip as key features.

According to Telkom, this chip is the most powerful on any smartphone and delivers "the best battery life ever in an iPhone."

The telco is offering the devices on its FreeMe plans. FreeMe, which includes free texts, free IM calls, free Wi-Fi, was launched in July this year and signalled a complete overhaul of Telkom's mobile product offering.

Telkom is retailing the iPhone 7 on a FreeMe plan with 1Gb data, free calls and free whatsapp at R699 p/m over 24-months.

Aside from availability through several cellular networks, including Vodacom, MTN, Telkom and Cell C, iStore is offering a new free additional 1 year warranty promotion to consumers that upgrade to the new iPhone 7 and 7 Plus.

iStore could not be reached for confirmation of availability and pricing in other parts of Africa at the time of publishing.
