Dubai-based television firm, My-HD Media, has partnered with satellite services provider Arabsat to expand its reach to over 80 countries across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).
My-HD Media offers a wide range of high definition (HD) channels via satellite, including all 8 MBC HD channels in the MENA region.
Meanwhile, Arab Satellite Communications Organisation or Arabsat for short, is a satellite operator carrying over 450 TV channels, 160 radio stations, 3 Pay-TV networks and wide variety of HD channels in more than 80 countries across the Middle East, Africa and Europe.
According to Cliff Nelson, chief executive officer of My-HD Media, the partnership is intended to give them a valuable platform to provide superior HD content to over “170 million viewers” across the MENA region.
“We aim to build a diversified bouquet of 40 HD family entertainment channels and we are confident that our association with Arabsat will be a long term profitable collaboration that will add significant value to both parties but most importantly to the end consumer” said Nelson.
Khalid Balkheyour, president and chief executive officer of Arabsat said, “The main objective from our successful alliance with My-HD Media will provide a commercially viable, mass market ready, end-to-end distribution platform to the broadcasters on Arabsat.”
He added, “My-HD Media will allow broadcasters to capture additional HD business across MENA. I am confident that in addition to the exclusive carriage for Saudi League in HD and the already existing choice of attractive Free-to-Air HD channels our viewers will really enjoy the new HD channel bouquet carried on the My-HD Media platform.”
