uAfrica.com targets Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda in African expansion

South African e-commerce technology company uAfrica.com is expanding into the rest of Africa.

uAfrica.com develops cloud based e-commerce technology that helps users easily create online stores.

In May this year, the company also announced that it has raised $1.5 million in funding.

Now, a phase one expansion plan includes targeting Nigeria with a trial ‘Proof of Concept’ (POC) partnership with MTN Business customers who will have the option to develop their own online shops through uAfrica.com.

Meanwhile, a phase two expansion is expected to see uAfrica.com launch services in Kenya followed by Uganda with business partners.

“uAfrica.com’s goal is to enable 1000 online stores outside of South Africa in the next 12 months,” said Andy Higgins, the managing director of uAfrica.com in a statement.

Andy Higgins (pictured) was also the founder and former managing director of South Africa’s bidorbuy.co.za.

“We have also identified Nigeria as one of our biggest markets in Africa and predict that in time they will outgrow South Africa and become our biggest market in Africa, so we’re thrilled to have launched our pilot project to such an enthusiastic response with our Nigerian partners.” Higgins concluded.
