More mobile solar chargers for Zambia
The World Panel Incorporation of USA has launched a mobile phone solar charger in Zambia that targets the country’s rural areas.
The Zambian government expects the project to help Zambians have access to affordable phone charging solutions regardless of location.
Many people in the Southern African country are not connected to the national grid, making it difficult for them to charge their phones and stay connected to mobile communications.
The minister of energy and water development, Christopher Yaluma, stated that the introduction of the solar mobile charger will help bring about an inclusive society in which everyone will have an opportunity to have access to renewable sources of energy and mobile communications.
Yaluma added that the solar mobile charger will afford Zambians -- particularly those that are not connected to the national grid -- an opportunity to charge their phones and always stay connected.
“The introduction of the Solar Mobile Charger will help bring about an inclusive society in which everyone will have an opportunity to have access to renewable source of energy that will enable them charge their phones and always stay connected,” Yaluma said.
The World Panel Incorporation’s launch of mobile phone solar chargers is not the first of its kind in Zambia though.
Social enterprise SunnyMoney has also introduced mobile phone solar chargers to the country.
